What you can do as an Ambassador

Our Sungabha Nepal Ambassadors are the face of Sungabha Nepal in their local communities, helping to raise awareness for our cause.

As an approved Ambassador, you have the option to host a documentary screening, host a cooking class, and co-lead a tour to Nepal and spread the word on social media and at speaking engagements.

Host a screening

Host a screening of our documentaries

We have launched two documentaries, in 2015 and 2021 which capture the mission and story of Sungabha Nepal, focusing on the power of education and the positive impact of tourism.

The first film, Bring the Light, follows a group of Nepalese women empowered through education, skills training, employment and income generation through their involvement with Sungabha Nepal. The second one highlights the journey of a group of Global travellers as they experience a life-enriching 10-day immersion in Nepal. This documentary shows Trade not Aid in action and the positive impacts tourism can have on local communities.

Our documentaries show that real and lasting change is possible when people unite and stand up to injustice. It examines civic courage, as each person interviewed has challenged what society has told them they are capable of doing.

As our ambassador, you can host a screening of our documentaries and bring a community together on issues that matter and remind people of the power in human spirits.

Host a cooking class

Host a cooking class with the team in Nepal

The cooking classes started in 2014 and allow us to share our passion and love of food. For Nepali women, the kitchen is the heart of the home and it gives them a great sense of pride to share their culture and traditions.

Ambassadors Host cooking classes so their friends and communities can participate in a traditional cooking class full of fun and flavour and fundraise for Sungabha Nepal’s work (now offered online). In the class, you’ll make traditional vegetarian momos, discover secret recipes, and learn about Nepalese culture from your local host.

Visit Nepal

Visit Nepal as co-leader of a tour

Our tours enrich the lives of travellers and locals alike. We carefully designed our immersive tours to ensure a positive and long-lasting social impact on the lives of the women we work with and the wider community. All tours support the following Sungabha Nepal initiatives: basic numeracy and literacy training for marginalised women, skills-training as tour guides, cooking, language and craft class leaders, school scholarship program and the completion of the Sungabha Nepal Guesthouse.
