Faith in Action!
Recognising the calling in our lives and being obedient in taking action to fulfil God’s plan for us
I have been blessed with the most extra ordinary journey that started with a heart to serve and action to learn more about what that would look like with a plane ticket I booked to Nepal when I was 19 years old when I heard of a volunteering trip. Seven Women started when I met 7 women with disabilities living in a tin shed when I was back in Nepal at the age of 22 years old. They shared their struggles and I wondered what I, as one person could do to help. It was overwhelming to me. I started small, with the resources I had to work with and faith we would be given more. And so Seven Women started.. but by bit … more and more women started to come asking for job opportunities and training. I didn’t know what I was doing but God is good and showed me step by step in the perfect timing.
I started selling the products the women were trained to make at markets every weekend, anywhere and everywhere we could get a stall to raise money to send back to create a comfortable living space for the women I had met. I started speaking to audiences to fundraise that started locally with tiny numbers, then grew to regional conferences of hundreds and then international stages in front of thousands. I’m sharing this because I truly feel I was meant to walk this path and I feel I didn’t question God when I was shown what action to take. I just did it. Every step of the way. Even when it terrified me to speak to audiences early days.
As in Matthew 19:26, Jesus said: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
It’s not until we take steps in the direction of our calling that we truly start to feel alive.
To do this it takes courage and resilience as it’s not always the easiest path. Our true walk starts when we ask Jesus into our lives as our Lord, God and Saviour and recognise that he died on the cross for our sins. We know God by reading his word and it changes our character as he speaks through his word to us. Our lives transform and he makes our path clear through his signs, miracles and wonders. We have the joy of the Lord in us and others see and experience it through us and are inspired by it. We have a peace in our mind, body and spirit that is the peace that comes with coming home. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
My faith has changed my life, my walk and the way I experience life. I wish this for others.
I give all the glory to God for everything we have been able to achieve with Seven Women and everything we will go onto achieve. I am so looking forward to what is to come.
